1. The kind that is herald by critics and fans alike, yet you've never been able to appreciate it's brilliance.
2. The kind that you think should be mentioned along with "Bastards Of Young" , "Unsatisfied", "Here Comes A Regular", etc. but never is.
3. The kind you've had a complete change of heart (for better or worse) since first hearing it.

Sadly Beautiful (I never really paid much attention to this song when the album first came out, but know it's one of my favorites on there)

Good thread kpg! You made me use my brain though ;D 1. Things - I'm not sure how heralded this is by critics but it was in the top 10 in the recent fan poll. I never warmed to this one - don't hate it but certainly not one I look forward to on the album. Same goes for Black Eyed Susan - seems to be universally loved by fans but it doesn't do much for me. 2. Little Mascara is a great Tim tune that doesn't get mentioned enough. Great riff, great chorus and great lyrics. One of Paul's best dripping-with-emotions songs. Should be mentioned with the greats. 3. Nightclub Jitters - I HATED that song when I first heard the album - the only song I would fast forward through (back when it was on cassette.) Now I don't love it but I like it and have a better appreciation for it. Suicaine Gratification was similar though in a shorter time frame. It grew on me and now I like it for what it is instead of what I wanted it to be.

I like the way torethatbridgeout restated my questions. We should all strive for brevity. Anyway..
1. The kind that is herald by critics and fans alike, yet you've never been able to appreciate it's brilliance.
I'm probably hanging myself with this one, but "Unsatisfied" has never been my favorite song. I think I had built it up too much before I had heard it, and when I finally did, I had no other choice but to be a little disapointed. It's a great performance on record, and I don't think he should have to play it again if he doesn't want to. Hopefully, he's long exorcised those demons.
2. The kind that you think should be mentioned along with "Bastards Of Young" , "Unsatisfied", "Here Comes A Regular", etc. but never is.
"Hold My Life", was my "it" song for the longest time. And also "Self-Defense" because he sounds so broken.
3. The kind you've had a complete change of heart (for better or worse) since first hearing it.
"No Place For You". I'd rather have some mystery left. Between the fireplace scene and all the interviews that mention her, it became almost too real. I wonder what her family thinks of it. On a lighter note, everything on GPB ep except "Psychopharmacology" and "Lush And Green", which I liked instantly. They're fun songs, all of them.

They love/I hate: Love Untold Shoulda Been: The Last Change of Heart: Actor in the Street (it clicked when began thinking of it as the follow up to Good Day, another song about Bob Stinson.)

1. Here Comes a Regular is sort of overrated. The lyrics are classic but I never play it. I get the feeling Paul doesn't care for it that much anymore either.
2. Darlin One is big time underrated.
3. Used to skip over I'll Buy from Tim but I dig it now.

Answering Machine (And most of LIB. It seems critics herald LIB as the Mats masterpiece, but I always considered TIM/PTMM as their peak.)
2. The kind that you think should be mentioned along with "Bastards Of Young" , "Unsatisfied", "Here Comes A Regular", etc. but never is.
IOU - I love the way it builds until the chorus at the end.
3. The kind you've had a complete change of heart (for better or worse) since first hearing it.
In my younger days I didn't appreciate Paul's mellower songs. I didn't pay much attention to Here Comes a Regular. Considered it a little dull. Now it's probably my favorite off Tim.

Good questions. Too hard. Ok, I'll try. 1. Stain Yer Blood 2. You Ain't Got Me?, Baby Learns To Crawl? 3. Boring Enormous and I Don't Know have improved. Waitress In the Sky has diminished. Could be completely different tomorrow.

1. Color Me Impressed--don't exactly hate it, but for some reason it's never hit me like others. 2. Lil Mascara--the definitive Mats song from the classic era, boozy mid-tempo rocker with balls and heart. 3. I'll Buy--used to skip it but now one of my favorites.
