of looking for Westerberg or Mats references in Neal Pollack's new(?) rock n roll novel, "Never Mind the Pollacks"
I didn't see any. Some funny stuff though.

The bassist for Blink-182 gives the Replacements a paragraph in his interview in RS (the new one) which I read while waiting for a prescription for a child.
I think that makes like 10 issues of RS in a row where the Replacments make an appearance.
Funny how they could not be bothered when the band did exist.

Then think that. There was a time when the band made good records and toured extensively behind them. I would be impressed if you could come up with a worthwhile article from any magazine from that era other than Musician.

Which cover?

Rolling Stone did put them on the cover. I don't recall the Replacements ever being on the cover of Rolling Stone. I do specifically remember Pleased to Meet Me and Don't Tell a Soul being the lead record reviews and there were some notes and stories about the band through the years.

Didn't RS do some kind of revisionist reviews for the Replacements discography a few years ago? If I remember right RS went back and reviewed the earlier Mats albums that they ignored the first time around and slobbered all over them like they'd been big supporters of the band from the beginning, and re-reviewed the later albums and upgraded them all to four or five stars. Typical Rolling Stone horseshit.

Paul was on the cover of Spin in the early 90's. That is about as close as it gets to the Replacements being on one of the mainstream magazines, I think.

Apparently they got put on a cover that nobody has ever seen.
That more than makes up for RS' past errors.
There is a great Howard Dean interview in the new issue as well (it took a LONG time to get this prescription filled). I am boning up pn the Democratic candidates, and Dean said some great things. I have no idea how he plans to accomplish all he claims he will. I am particularly impressed with how he is going to balance the budget, extract us from Iraq, save the environment, re-write the business culture of America, and teach us all how to flap our arms and actually fly..

The Replacements were on the cover of "Pulse" magazine, that free mag you can pick up at Tower Records if you have one in your town. It was right after DTAS came out. They were also on the cover of BOB at some point in the late 80's.

I hope he at least foto- shops a fake cover. I would like to see what it looks like.
Marc, make one where Bob is still alive. That would be great.
