1. The bass on the alt. take of "Crackle and Drag" sound just like the bass on "Silly Love Songs"

Yeah, that was my first thought when I heard that version.

And the vocal on the "original take" sounds like John Lydon circa PIL!

If you sorted every PW song into either a "McCartney" pile or a "Lennon" pile, which pile would be higher?

Oh....i'd say mccartney. Westerberg has that pop sensibility without all the Bulls**T. Lennon had a lot of b.s..

I always thought Paul was one of the few songwriters you couldn't define as being very Lennon or very McCartney. He's more 'very Beatles'... He has the piss and vinegar of Lennon and the pop nous of McCartney and that's whats I likes about him.

first off, macca, and lennon were, adn are pretty much geinus'...they're catalogue nears something un approachable as far as amazing pop songs, personally, dont think paul really fit in on either front, he's has always had much more of an frustrated streak, true angst streak than anything either put out other than plastic ono band, and anyone who thinks lennon is all bullshit, well i will get myself kicked off this website for defending him, but yer full of shite, and dont know yer arse from paul's..kick away kathy, somethings are beyong opinion, at least without some sort of argument...the dude is an icon beyond reproach. ..he , along with paul, george, and ringo, changed music , and it's history, for all of us to enjoy......
i look forward to a long and spirited argument>>>>> hmmm
it's good

Well adam, not sure anyone has disagreed with your points... I mean, who is going to argue the greatness of the Beatles?
I think you'll be disappointed if awaiting an argument. Someone said Lennon came out with much b.s., which people that even acknowldege his talent might say. Even people like me, that adore his stuff, might say that Sometime in NYC was weak when he started inserting too much politics/yoko into his work. 2 Virgins? Beatle fans might find that to be b.s. Wouldn't consider that to be "fighting words".

When i said BS, i wasn't talking about his songwriting. I was more talking about the hippy stuff, the drugs, the political rants and especially Yoko. Paul McCartney seemed to have it together a little more and maybe that's why he's still around.

I've always liked Paul more than John, simply because Paul had the pop heart and better voice (IMO).

wasn't looking for a fight or arguments, just thought it needed to be mentioned, the level they raised the bar within musuc politics etc...personally i loved john more cause he placed himself out in the public realm, weather that be the bed in's or whatever, he put it out there for pole to talk about, brought up subjects..i think hte hippie shiite like iot or not, was who he had becaome, in imagine, the clips of his argument with reporter5s about them wanteed his "happy" beatle, are so right on, very in line with dylkan during his "doint look back rants against the press...paul has historically sidestepped anything like that.....que: horrible macca song freedom, my god that was bad, granted john had some shaky musical endevours in the late 70's, but the guy was bonifide, as PW said,, he'd play the fool or king at our comnmand.....indeed
