I have lots of them, and they wouldn't have played them anyways. But this one, perhaps the only hair metal song I will turn up in my car, would have been great with the Replacements live treatment. Of course, it would had to be the Bob era....

Heck yeah haha. Great question. I’ve always had a soft spot for Van Halen’s “Jump.” Bob would be required here too. Journey’s “Only the Young”? Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car”? Did they ever do The Smiths? “Some Girls are Bigger Than Others.” I’m trying to picture Paul and Morrisey in an elevator. Just the two of ‘em. Ha.

Even though the song came out after they broke up, I always got a kick out of imagining the boys covering, “What If God Was One Of Us”. Just to hear them change the lyrics to, ”What if BOB was one of us?”

I have a live recording of them playing The Country Club in Reseda CA 7/30/1989, during the middle break of "Talent Show" they play a portion of Chuck Berry "The Promised Land". I'd love to hear them cover that all the way through, great song.

Back in the day, I always thought they could have done this Hall & Oates song with just 2 guitars (Slim), bass, drums, and dragged through the mud a couple of times.

Not a guilty pleasure, but I would have liked to hear them do Prince's "If I Was Your Girlfriend"...Paul Revere and the Raiders "Kicks"...

Not at all a guilty pleasure, but every time I hear Aerosmith’s No More No More, I can’t help but to think it would be the perfect Mats cover song.
“Lived my life a screamer, bound to a wife in marriage.”
My Aerosmith guilty pleasure though is Jaded, and I think Paul and Tommy could tear that one up.

They could have done any song off "Toys in the Attic" or "Rocks" and I would have been pleased...

I know they did Temptation Eyes, but did they ever do Midnight Confessions by The Grass Roots? I'd loke to hear that.

Wichita Lineman is no guilty pleasure in my book! I'm certainly not embarrassed to let others know I dig this song. 😉 This is one of Jimmy Webb's best songs.

Wichita Lineman is no guilty pleasure in my book! I'm certainly not embarrassed to let others know I dig this song. I conveniently ignored the guilty pleasure part of the prompt. All music is good music. Well, except maybe the Spin Doctors I just went with songs I would've loved to see them do live during the 83'to 85'years. Some I can see them sending up as a joke and others I'd bet they would own with a fairly straight version. WTF? I just want to list more!: 1) R.E.M. version of 'Superman' 2) Bob Welch - 'Ebony Eyes' 3) Maria Muldaur - 'Midnight at the Oasis' 4) Benny Mardones - 'Into the Night' 5) Jay Ferguson - 'Shakedown Cruise' 6) Walter Egan - 'Magnet and Steel' 7) Charley Pride - 'Kiss an Angel Good Mornin' 8) Alan O'Day - 'Undercover Angel' 9) Jeanie C. Riley - 'Harper Valley PTA' 10) April Wine version of 'Sign of the Gypsy Queen'

Both tremendous songs. 'Seasons of Wither' or 'You See me Crying' would be awesome. Fuck it, so would 'Dream On'.
