^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ In the OP, radio sessions are fair game, and "John, I'm Only Dancing" was played at a special performance in Fantasy Studios in Berkeley for a KFOG radio broadcast during the Eventually tour. Excellent recording. Killer renditions of the opening song "Waiting For Somebody" and "Once Around the Weekend", in which he apparently shouts "you're late!" to Billie Joe Armstrong. www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUgZ3J0ZvHYThis has always been one of my favorite recordings of Paul solo. I always wondered who he was talking to with the 'you're late' thing. I think it comes during 'once around the weekend'. Paul also jokes around about making fewer and fewer albums and touring less and less until he is eventually producing nothing.....

What song would you love to hear ol Elrod tackle? For some reason I think he’d knock this old Jack Nitzsche tune—from the Cutter’s Way OST—out of the park. Lyrically it even feels vaguely Westerbergian:
Edit: Btw, the film is an unsung little masterpiece (if you ask me)... free on Amazon Prime right now.

I always wanted to see what Paul could do with the Stones' Midnight Rambler. I love the live version of it off of Get Yer Ya Ya's Out. Paul can play the harp with his bullet microphone.

Of all of the tracks listed, I think Paul nails 'These Days' the best. The song seems to totally fit him musically and lyrically. Saw Jackson Browne perform this on PBS with The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band the other night. He said it came out of his 'sixteen year old brain'. Good God! To write something so powerful at such a young age is amazing. The line that kicks my ass every single time is 'please don't confront me with my failures; I had not forgotten them.'

There have been a lot of covers of that song and I have yet to hear one that I didn't like.

Speaking of covers has anyone heard Juliana Hatfield’s tribute album to The Police? I’d love to hear PW do that with Big Star. Or Sinatra.
