To Paul, for all the amazing music. And to all of you who post live footage from the solo years. I just spent some very rewarding time viewing old Jools Holland show footage (from the 14 Songs tour....as an aside, also on that episode were Lenny Kravitz, Tim Finn/Richard Thompson and Gloria Estefan? ) and clips from the Irving Plaza show in '93 (If Only You were Lonely and Achin' To Be). Every once in a while I love re-finding these things. I value them, so thanks all for posting.

Gloria Estefan and Paul Westerberg . . . a new duo called Esterberg! It's what the world has been waiting for.

To Paul, for all the amazing music. And to all of you who post live footage from the solo years.... Every once in a while I love re-finding these things. I value them, so thanks all for posting. Indeed---during Paul's renaissance, this place was a great repository for finding out the latest news, fans shared bootlegs, concert reviews or pics....so yes, much thanks to all the Westernerds out there who've shared things over the years about the Mats or about Paul. And funny enough, I was able to meet Paul for the first time at the tour bus in Boston on the Come Feel Me Tremble tour to tell him, "Thanks for everything, your music has made me and a lot of people happy." I went through a bad patch not too long ago where life happened, lost some good people and friends, and I stepped away from this board and a lot of other things. But I'm at a stage of life where I find myself full of gratitude for every little thing now. I am grateful for the internet friends/connections I've made here, to the majority of fans here that I've never met and don't really know outside of this place. I think of folks like bobstinsonsghost (Jim) and Beth, who left us too soon. And I genuinely wish everyone here in this community of Mats and Westerberg fans a good journey through this mystery we call life.

There is a lot of love in this room!
We really only have one job in this life, as far as I can figure, and that is to be kind.

Yeah thanks to everyone here. I’m grateful for this board. I only know 2 other Mats fans in ‘real life’ and I don’t really get the chance to catch up with a lot these days. Always look forward to visiting here and checking whatever news/discussions there are.

Yes, this has been a truly incredible place to visit (long before I had an account here). Thankfully there has been a great and supportive community here over the years.
Edit: I take it all back. Tommy played here within the last week and no one here let me know about it

It's crazy to me that I've been a member of this forum for 17 years. I used to be very active on the old newsgroups in the early days of the internet becoming a household thing and that was quite fun. Got so much information and connected with a lot of people that I still have some sort of connection with, even if it's just seeing something pop up on Instagram or an occasional email. As those things (and activity on the forum) start to wane, I'm grateful for all the conversations, laughs, arguments, shared tapes, in person handshakes, etc.......it's made my life better.

It sounds like an overstatement, but this board has actually helped me with depression more than once...

Wow, kind of like a eulogy or something... Lurked this board for years before joining, glad I did. NOBODY in my life, with the exception of my wife, and my son, knows who Westerberg is. So it is nice to hang with others who have the same interest I have in all things Mats. It is difficult to keep this all interesting, all based on a notorious recluse, kind of like having a JD Salinger fan club back in the late 50s and 60s. But it seems every now and then, something pops up. Which is why I still check-in semi occasionally.

guilty as charged. it's been three or four years since my last confession. i miss the mats. saw tommy play a living room show back in december. and that was cool. but the world's just not the same without something new. and in these idle self-isolating times, i yearn for a sign. we can only hope the coronavirus wrestles the restless to come up with something we can all shout about and sing along to, and cure this emptiness.
