Not a knock against the terrain PW has mined songs from since he's been down in the basement,BUT if he can do a stylistic album like Dead Man Shake, maybe a Tommy Keene style pop album is also in his grasp. Perhaps an album made using nothing but software and letting his freak flag fly that way.

I'll take anything at this point. Still waiting for some pop star to recognize the great catalog of songs, record one, sell the hell out of it, and pay the man.

Hmm, well, I really like his most “recent” solo work, simple as it is, as well as his work with Juliana Hatfield. I’d be thrilled if he comes out with new songs that sound just like the ones on Stereo/Mono and 49:00. I couldn’t care less how popular they become.

Dude is turning into Kevin Shields! At least he doesn't make us wait 15 years or so between records :/

He released a bunch of raw songs on the Dry Wood Garage site a couple of years ago and most folks on this site did not have a positive responnse overall.
Yeah, he will likely not do a full major (label) album roll out anytime soon but recent songs are out there.

If anyone thinks there is nothing fresh out here, please look up "Country Boy." Hopefully we can get more of the same soon - fabulous stuff

I like Country Boy! PW always slays with something on his releases.

It is in his blood as an artist to create. He is probably sitting on a hot mess of a pile of material.

It is in his blood as an artist to create. He is probably sitting on a hot mess of a pile of material. Yup, it is for sure, and yup, he probably is. But it's definitely not in his blood to get out and promote it, and it's barely in his blood to put it out there and share it. I wouldn't be surprised to hear something new out of the blue some day, but I also wouldn't hold my breath.

Box set! Maybe digital? With homemade artwork and access to a film about the reunion!
Just dreaming a little dream.

I get Paul's ambivalence about the music business and his past. He'll never be able to fully outrun the legend of the Replacements. And he's clearly not in it for the love of performance. He's a songwriter. But imagine if he had the backing of a great little label, a producer and a band that he felt comfortable with. He's being true to himself with "the basement tapes," but I think—with the right sound, the right promotion, the right songs—he's still capable of making a splash in the indie world. Dry Wood Garage had some decent cuts, but Tunecore?! He chose a virtually unheard-of and unusable website to distribute them. It didn't work. I will personally oversee a Bandcamp and Spotify rollout for you, Paul!
