Just before what would have been his 60th birthday (12/17/59) Steve Birmingham restored and released this old interview of him talking to Bob about his time with the Replacements.

Wow, thanks for the find.
I have been a fan of the band since Let It Be was released and I have never seen or heard a true sit down interview of Bob. I've heard him talk shit, scream, and banter with his bandmates on stage, but never an interview.
He is surprisingly coherent, very talkative, excellent memory, and I did not see him dip into the bottle of JD in front of him. If the date of the video is correct, he would die less than a year later.

Anyone happen to download it before it was removed? Would love to hear Bob in conversation.

I'm pretty surprised he ripped it off of his site and youtube. birminghamland.org/bob-stinson-1994/ In the upper right you can see he had a page special for it. I guess he also has more footage according to Bob Mehr

I tried Wayback Machine to see if it was archived, but no luck. The youtube video preview image is still visible, in case anyone happens to come across it in the future:

If you look up user "bobstinsonsghost" on youtube, he's probably got them. I remember one where Bob is trying to take the questions seriously, but Paul keeps answering them with variations of, "Because we're gay."

The only radio interview I've heard with Paul drunkenly joking "we're/they're gay" was the one he, Tommy, and writer Bill Holdship did with KROQ in Los Angeles. I read somewhere that the DJs ended up breaking Replacement albums on the air afterwards.

Just realized this interview was done the day before Kurt Cobain committed suicide. Had always heard that Bob became obsessed with Nirvana the last year of his life.

First time I've ever seen this and I think the first time I've ever heard Bob actually speak at length. He sounds great, extremely engaged and talking about interesting stuff. Makes it sadder knowing how it would end, seems like a good soul.

By far the most interesting thing I’ve seen shared on here in years. Thanks for sharing.
