I go with "Something in My Life is Missing." A tour de force lyrically, even though its meaning is somewhat obscure.

I go with "Something in My Life is Missing." A tour de force lyrically, even though its meaning is somewhat obscure. For sure, that's a total classic. The first 3 songs on that album are some of the greatest.

the piece that i call "rock n' roll ode," with the stones groove near the end.
"the wind blows, cause it's hired. "the rain falls, cause it's tired."
kills me every time.

Something about "Be My Darling." "O be my darling/You're just as bad as I been," simple as it is, is something only PW would write.

There are a bunch of 'em but I guess I dig 'Something in my Life" the most? Followed by Terry, Devil and Kentucky

Really nice brevity after an incredibly tough yet satifying 45:52 minutes...

I haven't listened to it in a long, long time. And that's a damn shame because I love it. Off the top of my head, the song about his father gets me everytime.

Hands down - the 'rock and roll ode' that Wiser mentioned. I call it 'it'll never die'. I think it is one of the best solo songs that Paul has ever done. A perfect tune.

Paul on 49:00 “If I drop dead tomorrow, that’s my masterpiece. I’m so tempted to [make a record like that one] again, but I can’t go through it again. It was absolute insanity and I was so frightened when I made it that people would think I was schizophrenic.” www.spin.com/2016/03/paul-westerberg-i-dont-cares-replacements-interview/I can imagine that was a lot of work, making all the fade ins and outs. I gotta think it required a helluva lot of thought on his part to give it some kind of structure.

This thread made me re-listen after probably a few years. Gosh I love so many of these. The second track after "Terry who you Gonna Marry" really knocks me out though.

I just wanted to bring this thread back from the dead to say that today, January 7, 2023, Terry who ya gonna marry is my favourite song in the world. Listened to it about a dozen times now in the last day, lol. So damn catchy.
