I have to wait bit to get my copy.
What are your favorite songs? How does it hit you compared to other Westerberg solo offerings?
Do you like the production? What are your favorite lines/lyrics?
I'm hoping more songs get posted to youtube.I really want to hear Hands Together.
Anyway, thought I'd start a thread for the album.

Spotify has the album and you can hear all the songs by Shuffle playing it. For some reason pop songs (Katy perry, maroon 5) would show up and play in between the album songs. Not sure if there is an easier way but I eventually heard them all.

I love it. I've had it playing on repeat since yesterday morning. The more I listen, the more I like it.
Production sounds great, in my opinion. If you love the Westerberg basement sound, you'll dig it. Sounds like Paul's drumming. From what I understand, some of the tracks are actual recordings from the past few years that are finally coming to light. Sounds like Paul has so many recordings he can't keep track of them anymore. Here's hoping there will be more where this came from.
Favorite songs? "back" and "hands together" are immediately fantastic. but each time though the record, I feel like I get stabbed by another track -- I dont feel like theres really a weak point on the album. Great record start to finish

The album is also more westerberg-y than I would have guessed. He is definitely the prominent voice. But does anyone else think there's a little too much treble in the mix? Regardless, I think it's great.

Does anyone realise that 'Kissing Break' is a complete rip off from the Kris Kristofferson 'Help Me Make it Through the Night'! Have a listen and compare on YouTube..it's something I hope Paul addresses in future interviews

It has some similarities in the vocal phrasing of the verses, I wouldn't say complete rip-off though by any means as far as I can tell. The sensibility isn't the same or the tone - the Westerberg is whimsical after all. Anyway Paul's always been a little Keith, a little Faces/Thunders, a little a whole lot of other people too but his unique stamp almost always gets across when he's on his game.
I'm not a musician so I can't argue it in terms of the musical notes and such but to my ears it doesn't overtly jump out at me honestly as a rip, maybe an homage if anything. There's probably songs it sounds like that I don't even know too, those old country back and forth songs, like when Paul here says "Baby what say?" and Hatfield answers "Ok" towards the end.

Part of my pandemic playlist and it's a needed boost. Great start, good mid-section through JUST A PHASE, then picks up steam for a kick ass finish all the way through to HANDS TOGETHER, which does my spirit good. Can't pick a highlight, they're all great. NEED THE GUYS is what I sing to myself, a lot, because that chug is a lifeblood. HANDS TOGETHER is a cruelly ironic song, at the moment. Looking forward to the time when we can put them together, together again.
