Went to the show in DC and loved the setlist and energy from the band but the sound in there was terrible if you ask me. As soon as the opening band started I was thinking "I hope they get this fixed" and they never did. I play/sing in a band and I'm familiar with live sound configurations and I noticed on the outside they had a big truck hauling in the sound system. That place does not have rock bands normally so they brought in this ridiculous sound system that would be built for an outdoor amphitheater type place. Which resulted in major bass guitar and kick-drum over-ride of the whole sound. It was total bass and kick drum to the point of not hearing the high frequencies in guitars and voices. To me, the sound in there was downright awful. I think it took away from the crowd's input and the band seemed kind of confused because their stage mix probably sounded good and they were reacting to a totally different mix the crowd was hearing. Those towers of speakers on both sides of the crowd was complete over-kill.

Yeah, I noticed this as well. The sound was absolute mud but I figured it was just where I was standing. It was really hard to make out any of the leads. Normally I wear hearing protection to concerts and I ended up pulling them out partway through to try and get some clarity and have it hit me harder.

really wish they had played like 2 nights at the 9:30 Club or something.
How was it getting in/out of there? Were there enough shuttle buses to get you to the metro? Did everyone try to use Uber? That seems like such a terrible location but I guess that's the only place where they could book.

I had a blast, but, yeah, the entire time I kept thinking, "God, I wish this were at 930." You're right, Echostage doesn't get many rock shows, it's mostly rave parties and electronic acts.
Loved when Tommy mentioned the old 930 Club on F St.

Traffic was pretty backed up right after the show going towards New York Ave but moved along fairly quickly. On an unrelated note, is this Caps game giving you a heart attack yet??

I drove from Philly and it took me longer than I wanted due to traffic. Since I was running late and didn't know the area, I parked in a lot. Not the greatest experience for people driving. Got in during the opening act. The sound mix didn't bother me as much, but the stage was just not high enough for those on the floor. I would never want to go there for a show again. Because of all this, this was my least favorite reunion show experience.
No problems with The Replacements. They seemed to play with a purpose. Just wish they had played 'The Ledge' as they had out west.

i had a lot of troubkle hearing Dave's guitar all night and wondered if it was him or the mix. I guess it was the mix.

too bad the Black Cat wasn't bigger; if it were, that would've been a nicer place for them to play. I've seen a few shows there and like it, but just not quite like the 9:30 Club.
Sorry to hear that Echo Stage was really the wrong venue, but I guess that was the best the Mats could do on short notice getting booked.
Funny how Tommy mentions the old 930 Club. Man, that place was something! I remember going there in high school to see some hardcore shows (Agent Orange, Brains, Black Market Baby, etc..) and it was wild....hot, dark, dingy. The neighborhood was really sketchy. Fast forward to today, and it's all been rejuvenated and gentrified!

Haha, that neighborhood turned into something out of "The Warriors" when the sun went down back in the day!

Does anyone happen to have a lossless recording of this show? Thank you.
