Listening to The Leatherwoods album Topeka Oratorio today, and in the song Don't Take My Happiness Away, this line jumps out at me: "You're the best thing that never happened to me..."
Looks like Topeka Oratorio came out in 1992 and Suicaine came out seven years later in '99, but I remember hearing that Paul wrote or co-wrote a song or two on the Topeka Oratorio album.
So, did Paul lift this line from The Leatherwoods' song? Or did he contribute it in the first place and then he re-used it? I suppose we may never know, but I'm curious if anyone knows anything more about it, maybe from an interview.

I have a vague feeling that he said in an interview that Laurie gave him that line, or said something along those lines in a conversation with him and that he wound up using it on Suicaine.
