This is another gem that should have been on the re-masters: Can anyone decipher the lyrics in the bridge and the last verse? Online lyrics sites have the following: Angels wait under reach (?) For the time run I let out a sigh If I reminisce Then you're the past I maybe at best And all ( ) For the last verse, could it be: If I'm (or I) reminisce Then you're the past I may be at best On your epitaph

I will offer up my take because I've always had to hum over a few lines. Here's what I'm hearing...
You learn from the past While I reminisce You look to the future I see maybe at best
A kiss for good luck Save it for an honest joe It's too late to worry I guess I'll just go
So forgive me And maybe We won't turn and rust Only if we must
Saints never preach And angels don't fly Down by the beach Where the seagulls dive/die
I asked you not to breath You let out a sigh I asked you not to breath/weep That's for you to decide
So forgive me If need be Forget about us Only if we must
Angles wait on the beach For the time run outta sky
If I reminisce Then you're the past I may be at best On our epitaph
Forgive me If need be I will turn to dust Forget me if you must
Only if you must

Your version of the bridge makes a lot more sense than the on-line lyric site's version, and the last verse, with "our epitaph," sounds accurate.
I hear a few different lines than you, though:
Down by the beach The seagulls die
I asked you not weep (or maybe he repeats "breathe") That's for you to decide

I hear a few different lines than you, though: Down by the beach The seagulls dieI asked you not weep (or maybe he repeats "breathe") That's for you to decideI always heard "seagulls die" as well, but with my ear to the speaker I heard "dive". It may be a phantom "v" sound, but I'm hearing it . I always thought he repeated "breath,"but then I heard "weep" and now I hear "breath" again. Thanks for the "That's for you to decide" line.I Knew I was not hearing that line right at all. I'm not too sure about the bridge, but those are the words I hear.I'll make the corrections.

One small contribution, perhaps...

Really like this, but I keep hearing:
It's gonna take a lotta love To change the way things are It's gonna take a lotta love Or we won't get too far

I sort of hear this, but I'm not certain...
I asked you not to breath You let out a sigh I asked you not to be That's for you to decide
As in, 'to be or not to be' -- or maybe it's to fill in the blank, as in, not to be...'here, with me, in my life,' that sort of thing.
Oh, and I also hear seagulls "die."
Thanks for working this up! Great song...
