I realize that this is a bit of a reach, but is there any connection between the Mats and Elastica (songs covered, soundtracks, etc.) I know, 2 different time periods really make it hard, but Chris Mars and Tommy Stinson were active the year Elastica put out their first album.

Justine Frischmann was in Suede. The Replacements liked Slade.
THAT is a reach.

Okay. Here we go.
(1) Mark E. Smith contributed to Elastica's second album, "The Menace."
(2) Mark E. Smith is in the Fall.
(3) A guy called "Dingo" played bass in the Fall.
(4) "Dingo" also toured with PJ Harvey.
(5) PJ Harvey contributed to Josh Homme's "Desert Sessions" side project.
(6) Josh Homme also has the Eagles of Death Metal side project.
(7) The Eagles of Death Metal opened for Guns 'N' Roses at the suggestion of -- TOMMY STINSON.

With all the bands Freese has played with, it shouldn't be hard to find a connection. I'd also look at the Gorillaz, the multi-guest artist band led by Justine's ex Damon from Blur.

Another avenue to search would be through Wire, as Elastica was forced to pay them royalties for Connection.

Ok, Jerry, I have one that's a bit of a stretch.
Justine used to date Gorillaz's Damon Albarm.
The Clash's Paul Simonon and Mick Jones played on the last Gorillaz album.
The Clash opened for the Who in '82.
The Who's Roger Daltrey reportedly once planned on recording an album of Westerberg covers.

Another similar one:
Justine dating Albarm > Simonon/Mick Jones on Gorillaz album > Jones produced Libertines > Libertines used to cover Another Girl, Another Planet > 'mats cover of Another Girl, Another Planet

Wow - I was just gonna say that Chris Mars' 75 % Less Fat was released the same year as that seminal 1st Elastica album.
Scott, Man Who Never Learned to Fly and wecantgetanybetter, hope ya don't mind, but I'm gonna use your answers in the podcast this week. Oh - and I'll play Chris Mars' Stuck In Rewind
Cheers!
PS Tom T - fell in love is an understatement!

You know I don't mind, Jerry. BTW, Justine now lives in your part of the country.

You are absolutely right. I forgot about Freese's connection to Desert Sessions. That guy has played with everybody.

But since Kevin Bacon has a band with his brother, The Bacon Brothers, that makes Kevin Bacon the musical Kevin Bacon. (Did I just make a Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon in ZERO moves???)
