Wow, is it just me or does he look ill? He almost looks like he's been embalmed... that or he's been hanging wait too much with Rick Springfield.

Hey, they quoted me! I'm like nearly, almost semi-famous. Now if I could only be good looking and popular. Your quote was one of the funniest lines I've read here. Are you sure you're not Paul in disguise?

good for paul!!... hopefully this is a sign of some things to come..., and man, the guy can't win for losing!!..., a picture of him get's posted, which to my eye seems pretty innocuous, and the westy tribe piles on....hilarious.

Whatever it means, it's not bad. Funny to see him all cleaned up and without specs ... that's not the Mr. Shambolic I've come to expect! ha! it looks like a headshot for a soap star Ha! That's what I was thinking...That sculptured but messy look you usually only see on soap stars and guys under 30.. CF

he looks dare I say it... presentable in the picture.... Maybe it's the lack of glasses, and the too neat messy hair, the clean shaven look, or maybe it's the lack of guitar in his hands, I don't know, but that really doesn't look like paul to me. Hopefully this is a good move for him though. I'd like to see him earn more for his writing etc, and if that means having his songs played in commercials, so be it. Actually, I never understood what people had against bands doing that... I could understand why a big name band thats raking in cash is willing to do it, they have the money to take a stand. However the small artist needs the money, and it's what is most important. If someone wants to feed and house them for a few months by using their song in a commercial, all the better!

Phil I might as well chime in here. I don't have a problem with Paul looking presentable -- hell, I welcome it -- but that photo is so obviously photoshopped (and badly photoshopped) that it looks like a wax dummy version of Paul. It's not like he's an actor or in a boy band, he's a 50-year-old, mostly independent artist. And I like being able to count the rings around his eyes.

Paul looks great, but the photoshop job is poor. They tried to lighten all the shadows and they gave him David Bowie eyes and erased part of his mouth in the process.
And this, from the second link: "Bug Music is notorious for owning copyrights..."
And Paul Westerberg's albums are notorious for containing recorded music.

One of my favorite shots of P.W.- movie shot that is- is in the Open Season DVD extras where he's sitting at the piano looking a little tired, looking his age (number and experience-wise) and looking very intelligent and serious- looking like the real P.W. Nothing wrong with that.

With Bug fucking up his first picture like they've done, I wonder what they plan on doing to his music. I truely hope he has, as the Clash would say, "Complete Control" of his music.
As far as him signing a deal.....more power to him!!

Definitely a strange picture. Not saying it's not flattering or anything, but it just doesn't look like the usual Paul.
That "Ashley" from Top Chef: Las Vegas reminds me more of PW than this picture.

My first impression is this is a good thing for PW - free him from the tyranny of the business side of things. However, the pic is creeping me out - he looks like Norman Bates!

yeah, i agree, that photo is pretty scary looking. It looks as if they touched up the photo so much and put on all this make up that the guy looks like he's made out of plastic. he looks fine as is, naturally. why did they have to doctor it all up and put on all this makeup?

On the plus side, picturewise, I'm happy to see him without the shades. It's been around 18 years since we've seen his eyes.

When I was up in Minneapolis a couple weeks ago I had my eye out for him everywhere I went, but if that's what he looks like now I could have walked right past him and never known the difference!
Anyway, I think this is all good news and I'd love to hear a new album, but then again I really couldn't care less what Mr. Westerberg does with his career as long as he's happy.
