Reimenschneider has a mini review from last night's show: www.startribune.com/blogs/poplife/Pretty cool show. It was clear that Warren Zanes was a big fan. Westerberg was in pretty good form. Dave

I'm impressed with the news publications' online and in-print reviews of this event. They covered a lot of ground and hit most of the main points and interesting highlights and footnotes. Still, I think we should start a list of stuff they missed ... including stuff that may not make into the Craft's edited video version.
- Paul's middle finger to the audience (what for? can't remember now) - Paul's swear word (at least one good one) - Paul's prominent product placement of bottled water - Paul's statement that we might rate Paul McCartney more highly if he'd been shot instead of Lennon, which he began by saying "What if it was the other way around?"

very nice meri, anyone have a clue on what kind of electric 12 string he's got? i assumed it was a fender strat, but i guess i don't know for sure. he hauled that one out at the pantages shows, and i have sort of been in love with it ever since.

i remember reading somewhere that after a show (maybe on the Folker tour?), some fan met him and told Paul he really dug his 12 string fender strat. Paul was ready to give it to him but the fan declined, saying it was too nice of a thing to give away. Paul said something like, it doesn't stay in tune much.
I believe it was a black fender with a white pickguard, though, not the one in the pictures Meri posted.

I know a guitar collecting fan who said Westerber offered to give him his hideous Gibson Marauder when the fan asked him about it.. Interestingly the fan declined because he already had one! Sounds like Paul's guitars are pretty much up for grabs, but I doubt if he would actually follow through with the gift. CF

I think Strats can sound good if the action is a bit higher, otherwise, with the looser strings, it tends to plunk and give off a banjo feel. Also, the pickups are key to the tone.

I do recall reading from a fan post that he gave some fan his leather jacket on the Folker tour. The jacket had a jock strap in the pocket, which Paul took back! Anyone else remember that story?

Oh yeah--found it: it was posted by FirstAveFiend from the "Meet and Greet Stories" thread. "The guy before me in line told Paul how he had to his coat and school books to buy his ticket and Paul went in the bus and brought him out a leather jacket. The guy asked PW if he was sure because it was a really nice jacket and Paul said well its a $300 jacket but you're what matters (not word for word but something that effect) he said just check the pockets, and sure enough there was a jock strap in one pocket, pretty funny." paulwesterberg.proboards107.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=bus&thread=1111123732&page=1#1112023250

Ahh those were good times. And it was "sell" his coat and books, looks like I got too excited when writing. Damn I miss that tour. Was very fortunate to get a Westerberg fix though on Sunday night. I can say that I was ecstatic to hear It's A Wonderful Lie. I loved his demeanor during the interview, laid back to the full extent of the term.
Thanks for the pictures Meri. I thought I saw you hanging out at O'Donovans but had to split kind of early for a friends event at the Triple Rock.

FAF, yeah, that tour was a lot of fun, wasn't it? Wish I had been there to get a fix too...

I commented on the Strat XII that he had while speaking to him in Dallas, I asked if he liked it, he said it hardly stayed in tune and said "do you want it" in jest. My answer was no, I already had one. It is a Strat XII made by Fender, it is made in Japan and only available in Sunburst (what Paul has) and Lake Placid Blue.
