For pre-show meet-up, the two first bars I can think of are:
Collins Bar, 8th Ave btw 46th and 47th - wide selection of beers and whiskeys, 'Mats on the jukebox.
McHale's, corner of 8th Ave and 46th - appropriately dive-esque, decent space, good burgers.
It'd be great if Paul did Conan. It's a shame that The Daily Show doesn't have musical guests, because that'd be perfect.

I'm new to this community, but would love to meet up. I will most likely be going to one of the shows alone, given the fact that I'm a young'n and most of my friends don't listen to Paul.

I've never been to the other place. There's a whole bunch of places around that area--especially on 8th Avenue. I can't think of any off the top of my head, but just keep me posted on what you guys are doing. I'll definetly be trying to get my tickets as soon as they go on sale Wednesday... Is this a seated show or general admission? I think it's going to be a GA. Doesn't it say on the ticketmaster site? But don't quote me on that one....

Those are both excellent choices for pre-show. Count me in.
I don't think Supper Club has seated shows. I've seen Psychedelic Furs and Arrested Development there and it's an excellent place to see a show.

Cool, thanks for bringing it back Kathy.
So hey folks, which venue are you up for: McHale's or Collins Bar? For food purposes, McHale's might work better, but Collins Bar does have 'mats on the jukebox.
Let the voting begin!

For people who are coming from work, maybe a place with food is best since there's not going to be a whole lot of time to grab dinnner?

Hey, sorry I didn't reply before. Just wondering at what time do you guys consider "pre-show?" I'm not sure if I'm going to be working those days, but if I am I would probably like to swing home and change and go to the show. And the doors open at 7pm for the show, so I would probably like to be inside the venue at that time and stuff.
Don't want anyone to change any plans and stuff, but just wondering at what time do you guys want to get together. And if people are just heading towards the show area after work then I guess it is a good idea to go to the food place. Don't know...
Just let me know what you guys think and what are the plans. I hope to have this stuff figured out this coming week...

My vote goes to the Collins Bar - Mats on the jukebox over food anytime. Maybe use both bars - aren't they across the street from each other??

Rudy's on 43rd & 9th is quite a dive, I went there pre-Social D show, & they have Free Hot Dogs!
It's only 6 blocks from the Supper Club...
Mchales, is cool Collins is fine....
basically, if they have booze , I'll go...
Rankel, Pre show, to me is as soon as I leave work, 6:00 PM or Beer o' clock as it is otherwise known....#nosmileys

Has there been any decison made on this ? & is it for BOTH nights?
bhay42, you seem to be the point man on this endeavor....

Oh boy, did I ever not mean to end up the point man...
But anyway, yeah, 6pm is probably the best time for the pre-show. As for which night, I'll be attending both shows, but probably only free for pre-show shennanigans on Tues.
As for bar choices, Rudy's might be the best choice - cheap beer and free hot dogs (that way there's some food, but faster/less-need-to-sit-down food than McHale's).
Collins does still have 'mats on the jukebox though and is a bit closer. And has popcorn. I also just like the place.
Anyhoo, 6pm Tuesday sounds good. Let's do a final vote between Rudy's and Collins. Go!

Okay, so far we have: 2 votes for Rudy's 2 votes for Collins I have no idea what bhay voted for--he sorta did a Secretary of State thing there and was just diplomatic about it. One way it reads for Rudy's, the other way it reads for Collins.... I think I'm going to have to vote for... Rudy's. Just because I like dive bars; I think they're kinda cool. And I have to say that I'm very intrigued AND a bit scared about those hot dogs, but I'll eat 'em anyway ;D So, just want to let you guys know that I couldn't get out of work early, so I probably will show up a little after 6. I just really want to go home and change and stuff. So, sorry if anyone is disappointed that you don't get more rankel--I bet you're all broken hearted about that one I'll keep my eye on the board to see the end-tally results. Everyone! There's still time to vote!!! Your vote WILL count!! Let your voice be heard!! (Oh yeah, and if for some reason you all just change your mind I don't really care where we go. We just have to make sure we have a place definite by Sunday night or Monday morning I think.)
