I have an hysterical picture of Paul with his pants down on stage from last night that I will post when I get home tonight. And the tour wackiness continues! Thanks for the warning. I suppose this will answer that age old question, boxers or briefs (or commando). Didn't Jim Mossison get busted for this sort of thing? ;D

Now I need to hear the story behind this one. Paging Bigbak. Quit working, I'm bored as hell (at work).

I can fill in the blanks - Paul hurt himself and ended up in the emergency room yesterday and had his leg all wrapped up so he dropped trou and showed the crowd, sang 1/2 of "What A Day" before the guitar tech came out and pulled paul's pants up for him

I'd say guitar tech guy deserves a raise! I second that. Thats kind of crazy that his leg was bad enough to be in the emergency room and he was still able to go on stage. Either there's some good painkillers or he's just that damn tough.

Ha, I thought he had white long johns on. In the pic, it looks like he has a bare left leg, but I could have sworn he was wearing the long johns over his leg wrapping. Either this pic is playing tricks on my eyes,or his legs are so white, I thought he was wearing the long johns ;D

I first noticed this at the TV taping: Paul's amp is missing two "L"s. Maybe a nod to the Brady Bunch, he's now playing through a Marsha cabinet...

I first noticed this at the TV taping: Paul's amp is missing two "L"s. Maybe a nod to the Brady Bunch, he's now playing through a Marsha stack... And stacked above it, he's duct taped something else out to make it say NO (sorry I don't know equipment or the technical terms so I don't know what brand it could have been)

No, because the NO is the last two letters of the word. You can tell there's black tape over the first set of letters.

Hey "nevermind", those aren't longjohns he's wearing. I know it's hard to tell from the picture but his left leg is bare and his right leg is wrapped up in a big ace bandage. Now that I've cleared that up... it's official, I have nothing better to do.
Anyway, it was a great show. I missed seeing him solo back in '91 because he hurt his back before the SF show so this time when I saw him come hobling out with a cane I had a feeling I'd probably just had a close call with missing him again due to injury. I knew having three days off before the show was bad luck.
The crowd was awesome. A real mix of young and old fans as well as longtime and new fans. One of the guys I was talking to has two sons in college and he first heard about Paul by reading a review of Suicane Gratification (apparently there were some good reviews out there). It's ironic to me that HE was there and his son's weren't.
The backing band was great. Seemed to really enjoy the songs. I think Paul should say the heck with the artiste-formerly-known-as-Chris-Mars and get the 'mats back together and bring Bland along on drums. They did it without Chris in '91 they can do it again.

The Denver show was wonderful. It was the best concert I've ever attended. I sure hope it's not another nine years before Paul comes back to town.
The "Only Friends" rocked. And they all seemed to be really enjoying themselves.
I took my two teenage sons and one of their friends, all three of whom are big Westerberg and Mats fans. Because they're too young to drink, we got sent to the underage section of the floor at the Ogden Theatre -- which turned out to be front-row center! What a hoot!
I really appreciate what happened after the show. My kids and their friend had taken along a shirt and a couple albums, hoping for autographs. They were allowed on the bus, where Paul, obviously in pain with ice on his leg, was a total f*ckin' sweetheart to the kids. He signed their stuff, posed for a photo and chatted them up. I was way impressed by how kind he was to them, and they'll never forget it.
