Bob Mould may (or may not) post more about the show on his blog, worth taking a look over the next few days.

the female drummer for Golden Smog was Linda Pitmon, i'm not sure what her story is. she played very very well though. had a few miscue's, but overally, pretty impressive. oh yeah, she was cute too ;D and Steve, def will next time i see you shooting. i think i've seen you at a few other shows, but didn't know who you were on the jayhawks board until recently. edit: ah, Linda was in Zu Zu's Petals with Paul's wife Laurie, and played w/ Golden Smog at their 2 NYC shows in August, and plays drums for Steve Wynn's new band now. it all makes sense now

oh, also, i def agree about Mould, the guy still totally has it.
i saw him at First Ave earlier this summer. he played the first set all acoustic, then the second set was like last night, all on electric, great mix of Husker, Sugar, & solo stuff.
as great as it was to see him play w/ Grant, and i know everyone would love to see a Husker reunion someday, i'd much rather see a Sugar reunion myself.
Copper Blue is one of my fave albums of all time.

Howdy. I was there last night, by myself, realizing that the last time I went to a concert alone was during The Replacements very last tour in '90 or '91. I kept pinching myself last night - not believing my eyes or ears - considering us all so lucky to be there!!!
I arrived in time to find a place to stand before Paul came on. His voice was especially sweet, I thought. So GREAT to see him looking and sounding so good, and enjoying himself, too.
Bob Mould was outstanding (the last time I saw him at 1st Ave about 15 yrs ago, my ears were blown out for about 2 weeks!).
It was such a good night. So much love and respect for Karl came from his peers...and from the audience. Good indeed.
Would anyone be willing to identify the players in Golden Smog for me? I'm not familiar with many of them (the guy who did most of the singing - the one with the Soul Asylum t-shirt on - seemed like an *ss - super inflated ego maybe...). Thanks!!!

I'm not familiar with many of them (the guy who did most of the singing - the one with the Soul Asylum t-shirt on - seemed like an *ss - super inflated ego maybe...). Thanks!!! Kraig Jarret Johnson is great. He's played in Run Westy Run, The Jayhawks, The O'Jeez, Vio Voom, Dim Sum, Iffy and his current band Kraig Jarret Johnson and the Program features Jim Boquist (Son Volt) Ed Ackerson (Polara and other projects) Peter Anderson (drummer extraordinaire who has played drums with a lot of bands) sometimes Marc Pearlman (Jayhawks) and the last time they played Dan Murphy (Soul Asylum) played a couple songs with them. The time before that Gary Louris (Jayhawks) played with them. Oh. And David Poe is often in the Program. He's from New York and in my opinion doesn't add a whole lot. But he is often credited for giving Kraig the push to write his songs and get his own band going.(Kraig was kinda in the shadow of his brother Kirk for a while.) Kraig is a great guitar player, has written some solid songs and his shows are always a blast. And he's really, really a nice person.

I reiterate. I hate you all.
The five most evil words in the English language - "Man, you shoulda been there..."
And yes, "shoulda" is one word.

How come when someone does something nice for me, I'm not even around for it?
I tried, but failing in finding a ticket and unsure in a place to stay, I didn't want to go through the hassle of trying to find a ride. Especially after hearing everyone talk about how awful the crowding was, etc. I didn't really feel like going to all that trouble to not see and be trampled. Not to mention being broker than broke. I guess all the searching broke me down. Thanks anyway.

Faith, I would have been happy to have given you a ride if you had been able to find a ticket...especially since I almost had one for you.

The no ticket and homeless thing had more to do with it. I didn't want to hassle you to get up there and then be stranded outside.
