I'm barely able to restrain myself from logging on to Ticketmaster.com and clicking refresh for the next two days...must focus...self-control...
If the ticketing gods are kind I will be going to both shows, ticket prices as simply not an issue where PW is concerned. If nothing else, do it for Johnny's college fund.

Hotel info: Le Meridien - 4 star poshness $190 Downtown Radisson - $130 Downtown Hilton - $220 a bit of a walk Holiday Inn (Conv. Center) - $135 another walk the rest of the available hotels in MPLS for that nite (according to hotels.com) are on the other side of downtown by the Metrodome and U of M. Seems there is something going on in town that weekend, many are already booked. Other events of the weekend, Gem, Bead & Jewerly Show at the Conv. Center and Nov.6 7pm T-Wolves vs New Orleans at Target Center. THIS JUST IN--Thurs. Nov. 4th at the Xcel in St. Paul, ONE NIGHT ONLY...The Scorpions and Tesla. any thoughts on the Radisson v. the Marriott?

I've stayed at the Marriott & the Hilton. I hear the Hilton is remodeled. Both are fine in the generic hotel sense. Marriott is closer and has more preshow drinking options.

For those whose tastes in hotels run to the Waitsian, three ideas: - Continental Hotel www.american-travel.net/profile/MN/Minneapolis/1671More rundown than this oil shows, looks more like a SRO, just a few blocks from the Pantages - Midwest Hotel perfect if you are arriving by Amtrak, as it's near the station midway between Mpls and St. Paul, closer to the Turf Club where Slim plays actually. There's a front window with a guy always watching TV and a vertical neon sign that says "Midwest Hotel" which would make a nice photo if no one in your circle has ever been to the Midwest before. 2144 University Ave W St. Paul (651) 646-4770 on a slow busline to downtown with lots of street life - Nicollet Island Inn It's a fancy b&b now, sort of psuedo Victorian, but 30 years ago it was a Salvation Army shelter for men. It's about 10 blocks down Hennepin Avenue from the Pantages, in the middle of the Mississippi. www.nicolletislandinn.com/

I've also noticed there is a residence inn a few blocks away, on the "skyway" for @ $110-120/night. Comes with Fridge (beer?) and stove and microwave. They are "suites" and the ad states they are "spacious" in case there is an aftershow "hootenanny/party?"
Breakfast also included the next day, to fight off any lingering hangover. I'm going to book a room just in case Paul decides not to invite me to crash in his basement. (we are pretty close now, after the louisville party and all).
I'll likely be looking for a roomie, non-smoker preferred in case anyone wants to split the cost. gtrplyr can vouch I'm not a psycho. Please send your references if interested.
Oh yeah, the room comes with one bed, and one fold out sofa in the living area. Willing to flip for the bed, or take one night on each mattress. If two shows develop, I plan on attending both, so the room is for Friday and Saturday.

But go here, and check out these guys....listen to the soundclips....(hit where it says "pharmacy (music/video)".....you will be praying Paul didn't hire them.... www.thepainkillers.com/default.htm

ms. kathy, if you have some insider information you could spare me my disappointment, you know? I really do not know who the Painkillers might be...I did ask though. I'm wondering now if Paul will have to change the name of the back-up band since the name is already in use....maybe: Paul Westerberg and The Painkillers UK
