What songs would you suggest Paul do special for London, the way he did "Kentucky Rain" in Louisville?

I would suggest The Smiths 'London' but I'd get flamed. Oops Or maybe Costello's 'London's Brilliant Parade'? Paul doing Costello? I could go some of that.

Didn't Sir Paul do a song called London Town.
Hey, kidding, though I do have that album somewhere in the basement.

Don't know why I didn't think of it first off but Warren Zevon's 'Werewolves of London'. Would also serve as a nice tribute to the great man. Mind you, Paul would have to bring the piano if he was going to have a go at that one.

Is The Clash "London Calling" too obvious or too un Paul, I dunno. I remember the Strokes doing "Clampdown" last time they were in London, which went down a treat with the locals.(me included). Or how about something really off the wall like the Small faces "Lazy Sunday" with Paul giving it full on Mockney(Brits will know what i mean here). Or a host of Shane McGowan/Pogues London songs, or even taking the "Folker" theme to extremes "the streets of London" (Old Folk song, cant remember off the top of my head who its by now).

I'm thinking a cover of a Jam song might be good but I can't decide on which one. Any ideas?

You're not thinking of Fred Wedlock, whose album "The Folker" predates PW's by 33 years? paulwesterberg.proboards23.com/index.cgi?board=generalpw&action=display&thread=1089945224Actually covering that tune ("The Folker") or something else by this guy might be a nice nod, if not to London exactly, at least to a fellow songwriter with a sense of humor. I'm thinking a cover of a Jam song might be good but I can't decide on which one. Any ideas? "Down in the Tube Station at Midnight"? I don't know ... whichever Jam song has enough humor you can imagine it on "Sorry Ma"

No. actually, i remember now. The guys name is Ralph McTell. Its an old Folk song which this guy did about 20 years ago, but its regarded as a bit of a standard by old "Folkies".
