I'm trying to get away from the wedge monitors ( too much feedback in a small room) and go to in ear monitors. Does anybody know anything about these other than they are ridiculously expensive. Suggestions? Reviews? Anything would be helpful. .....Thanks

I tried some out and all I can say is that you really have to have faith in your sound person. quality aside, you can really damage your ears. batteries must always be tip top.
I also think that they take a little of the *oomph* out of the playing experience - if that makes any sense.

I have never used them but i heard from a fellow band member that if you are to use them make sure that the low end is still coming thru the wedges. this way you can feel the *oomph* that ginsu was talking about...
either way hearing damage and loss is inevitable as a long time rock and roll musician...i assume you are playing rock and roll.

You would assume correctly. More precisely brain damaging power slop.
Finally caved in and got some Shure monitors. Actually, as loud as we play, I had to turn the monitors down to get the correct volume where it wasn't drowning out everything else. That really surprised me. Once I got use to them I could actually match the singing to the key of the song. Not by accident, but actually on purpose.
