Elizabeth: Gorman really had Winona in mind when he wrote the book? That settles it, there's no way I'm reading it now. I mean, you obviously can't judge a book before you read it, but ... Winona?! Give me a break. Okay, someone PLEASE track down that Greensboro Review story. I'm really curious to hear what someone else thinks about it. So yeah, if you read it, give us a post. Well, I've said what I had to say. I promise I won't say another word about the Greensboro story ... but it is really good!

I recently heard about a book written by a guy from MN called The Carpet Frogs: Music After Tomorrow that's supposed to be excellent. The band is supposed to be based on the Mats and the Beatles and starts in the 90's or something. In fact the cover of the book has Chris Mars decending into 7th St Entry. I've been searching everywhere for this, but have yet to actually read it. I think you can get it on Amazon and the publisher online...

I have Carpet Frogs and it is a good, albeit "slim" (no pun intended) read. It's well written and somewhat surreal. It's about a band that is "like" the Mats who were influenced by the Mats. It also kind of deals with multiple realities. Also, regarding the Second Greatest Story, I wouldn't exactly call it a "farce." The story was interesting and some parts were hilarious, like when Gary's Got a Boner became a big hit. Scott W.

I read "The Carpet Frogs" too. It's an interesting read. It really deals more with The Beatles than the Mats but there are many Mats references and similarities.

guess who gorman wanted to play the daughter of Jesus when he was writing this book and thinking about a movie....it's so bloody obvious (and lame)....he's really not a very good writer... Elizabeth...really now...in 1989, when I wrote the book, what actress would have been better suited to play the 18-year-old Daughter of God? There were none. Don't confused the Winona of Heathers with the Winona of today. As for Whoopie...that's Hollywood! From the producer of a film that actually won a best picture Oscar. Luckily, he never got it made. But how are you otherwise...still in CT? (YOU, of all people, calling ME a dork...that's too funny!) And anyone looking for Second Greatest...check half.com, they usually have copies for sale. Read it not because of the Replacements, but as an antidote to The Passion and the Religious Right which is destroying this country. That's what the book is about, a much heavier subject, disguised in satire. Thanks though to everyone else who said kind words about the book, the photos, and such. I actually laughed out loud at the Pretty Girl joke! Gorman Bechard www.gormanbechard.comwww.theprettygirl.com

Though I'm not sure exactly which ex you're talking about...sure...absolutely, tell her I said HI. Um...no, wife always liked you. As did I. Wish I knew you were in Boston...I was up there for a couple of film festivals back in September and October...we could have grabbed a coffee. And don't worry...your secret(s) are safe with me. Listening to any fun new bands?

Slam it home was a classic line. Perhaps I should reuse it in my next book! KM's doc was never finished. She moved on to HSUS and has been doing a lot of cool things over there. I figured you were talking about CW, but didn't want to assume. Yes, of course, say hello! Always loved the first 2 Television CDs. Did you ever get into the Archers of Loaf? They were the band that help me survive the 90s without the Replacements. With the Mats and the Clash, one of the top 3 live bands I've ever seen. The singer's new band Crooked Fingers is pretty damn amazing as well. Wonderfully depressing and haunting. I'm still in New Haven. Doing a feature this summer (I've done enough shorts lately...check out The Pretty Girl, if you haven't...it's one I'm really proud of). Working on book #5. Same old crap. www.theprettygirl.com
