Is it generally accepted that the line is Cerebral Rape and Pillage? For years I heard "so we will rape and pillage, in the village of his choice". To me that meant that the band would follow (party it up) AC to where he was at which was the village in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, which is where St Mark's Place is located.
Was never sure how cerebral fit in, except to imply a mind f*ck. Guess I was wrong for all those years...?

That's exactly how I heard it for years, but finally read the lyrics somewhere, probably Skyway as "cerebral" and just assumed I was wrong too.

I always thought it was "so we" as well. As for the Skyway lyrics, I question some of the lyrics such as in the song "Can't hardly wait" I believe the line to be "see old high and lonesome" not "see you're high and lonesome". I only state this because of several refference's to being lonely ,or Mr. lonely in his songs.

On the record it is CLEARLY and UNDENIABLY Cerebral (He says Ce Re Bre Al).. How do I get involved in these discussions? ;D

How do I get involved in these discussions? ;D Sure SP, it must be my aging ears that won't allow me to detect a B sound in the whole line, let alone hearing only 3 syllables It does amuse me how ppl can hear different words from the same passage. At least this is closer than fingernails and bacon! Scuse me, while i kiss this guy..

Was never sure how cerebral fit in, except to imply a mind f*ck. I always heard it "CeReBreAl" too, thought it kind of clever without really thinking about it ... now if it's a synonym for "mind f*ck" -- that's clever, on your part or his or whoever Paul heard it from.

I'd suggest it's what he feels like saying on the day. Probably started as "we will . . . " and cerebral started sounding good to him. Maybe because it's one of the few songs the whole band is credited with writing and Paul the control freak (for lack of a better term and not necessarily a bad thing) wanted to make it his own.
