Welcome aboard JR.
Here's the lyrics to the song:
Runaway Wind
You don't blow like the breeze you were born to be You die down in the trees and try to hide Will you witness the dark All you need is a spark A cathedral of torches to light the night
On your mark here I am I'm your spark Runaway wind Run run away wind
You trade your telescope for a keyhole Make way for the gray that's in your brown As dreams make way for plans See ya watch life from the stands Come on I'll help you burn 'em to the ground
On your mark here I am I'm your spark Runaway wind
He sees ya like a river Deep and silent And he runs to you like A shallow noisy stream I see what you've become and try to hide it You need someone who sees What you were born to be
Here I am
You don't blow like the breeze You were born to be You don't know what to do with your life As day returns to dark Flame returns to spark Come on I feel I'm blowing out tonight
I'm your spark here I am I'm your spark here I am I'm your spark here I am On your mark run away wind Watch you run Watch you run Watch you run
btw, if you're looking for more PW lyrics, just click on the PW picture on the top left side of your screen, and you'll find a whole lyrics section there.

Uh Oh.... here we go again.. Just kidding
This is one of my ALL TIME FAVS.... in my top 5 easy. its hard to believe, but we actually used to play this - sans piano.. BUT I always thought it was "A cathedral of tortures light the night..."
Not sure what it meant.. but I was wrong.. (imagine that!)
There is one teeny correction which doesnt matter a hill of beans...
As day returns to dark Flame returns to spark Come on I feel I'm GOING out tonight.
I demand a poll. Where's TTBO when I need him?

lyric squabbles that really get under your skin are the teeny ones that don't amount to a hill of beans.
But in this case "GOING out tonight" has another meaning that "blowing out tonight" doesn't have
mainly because PW famously does not go out at night

Hmmmm... didn't think of that. But I think he just means he's going out as in "blowing out"... i.e. no more spark.

"As dreams make way for plans See ya watch life from the stands Come on I'll help you burn 'em to the ground"
always loved these lines. god, that song is fantastic. anyone want to take a stab at just what he means when he says "runaway wind"?
i have my opinion, but i'll reserve it until later.

Read the lyrics - it's obviously a reference about passing gas - one of those that slips out before it's time. ;D

Read the lyrics - it's obviously a reference about passing gas - one of those that slips out before it's time. ;D I knew one could light them, but imagine one with enough juice to light the night! I'm your spark BOOOM! You have ruined this song for me! From now on I will laugh instead of cry.

I aways thought that Cranberries song was called "You don't have to pull my finger"... "and let it linger". Now I can add Runaway Wind to my quiver of flatulence metaphors...
By the way... isn't this just about him obsessing about someone who is with somebody else and him offering her an escape.... if she rejects him he's just gonna blow out???
