Somehow I doubt PW's headed for a whole ton of Top 10 lists, but here's one from the Canton (Ohio) Repository, which I guess is a newspaper but sounds like something you get at Walgreen's.ON THE RECORD: 2006 hits Friday, December 29, 2006 BY Dan Kane REPOSITORY ENTERTAINMENT EDITOR Musical tastes are so subjective and eclectic, and there are so many albums in so many styles released annually, that a list of the year’s “best” 10 CDs is a ridiculous proposition. With this in mind, I’ve compiled a list of new, mostly rock ’n’ roll CDs that caught my ear, and held it, during 2006. There are 13 of them, listed in no particular order. PAUL WESTERBERG: “Open Season.” Who’d have guessed that one of Paul Westerberg’s most satisfying albums post-Replacements would be the soundtrack to an animated film about talking animals? Songs such as “Meet Me in the Meadow” and “Right to Arm Bears” are as playfully upbeat as their titles suggest. (He also lists: MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE: “The Black Parade.” BUCKCHERRY: “15.” ARCTIC MONKEYS: “Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not.” SCISSOR SISTERS: “Ta-Dah!” CHRISTINA AGUILERA: “Back to Basics.” BLUSH: “From the Falls to the Path.” BECK: “The information.” JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE: “Futuresex/Lovesounds.” THE LITTLE WILLIES: “The Little Willies.” BRANDSTON: “Hello, Control.” BEN KWELLER: “Ben Kweller.” PRIMAL SCREAM: “Riot City Blues.”)
