www.eonline.com/Reviews/Facts/Music/RevID/0,1107,3731,00.html Without a doubt, the Replacements rank as one of the best bands of the 1980s: The tuneful mess of a group left an imprint as indelible as Sharpie sentiments scrawled upon a passed-out frat boy's face. This retrospective traces the Minneapolis quartet's evolution from a ragged bar band to its more grown-up, if slightly tepid, tunes that made the world safe for bands like the Goo Goo Dolls. The disc cuts through the filler from their proper albums and slams all the best moments together--heart-on-sleeve tracks such as "Answering Machine," "Unsatisfied" and "Skyway." Since the band just did a dual-disc retrospective a few years ago, the main selling point here is a pair of new tracks, "Message to the Boys" and "Pool & Dive," both of which prove you can take the band out of the bar but, well, you get the picture.
