Grandpaboy only gets two stars out of five....
Ex Replacements leader revives his alter-ego. Bad idea.
After Garth Brooks's career-killing turn as Chris Gaines, there shouldn't be a rock star left mad enough to play around with an alter-ego. Paul Westerbeg, however, has never been one to take the sensible course. He hit the self destruct button to derail the Replacements whenever stardom beckoned, while solo his records have been dull at best, grim at worst. Here he resurrects his bar band act Grandpaboy, plodding his way through a moribund collection of ragged but never rugged songs. And when the lumpen OD Blues arrives, you'll want to ring last orders.
