This awkward offspring of "Hard Days Night" and "Feelin Groovy" has failed to grow on me. God knows I've tried but I just can't love it as I should.

I love the turn of a phrase and I have had many days lately that begged for night.

Eh...don't hate it, but never liked it. Feels like Paul trying too hard.

It's alright. Never hated it, but never did much for me.

I love the guitar in this song - it's got that trade-marked mis-firing sound in the short solo that I love. That whole album (CD?) is my favorit Post-Replacement group of PW of songs. Along with the emotion in "Meet Me Down the Alley", the grinding of "Dirty Diesel", the power-pop of "My Daydream", and the humor in "Hillbilly Junk".... can't beat it.

I really don't care for Bonnie Raitt so whenever I hear this song, her "essence" taints it for me. I wish PW would never have mentioned it was written for her.

It's alright. Never hated it, but never did much for me. Exactly my sentiment. I'd take almost every other song on that album before this one.

I'm saddened that some of you don't love this song for what it is....a brilliant pop song with a great vocal. One of Paul's best solo moments....Bonnie Raitt, as great as she is, could not bring the emotion to this vocal the way Paul does...I don't know who else could.

One of his finest mature moments. It doesn't bother me that people don't all love it - but his ragged rathpy voice complements the melody more than Bonnie Raitt might have done. People might think this heresy but I always feel that Rod Stewart could easily slip it into one of his American songbook albums...

Eh...don't hate it, but never liked it. Feels like Paul trying too hard. Honestly I thought I was the only one that didn't adore the song to all ends. I've never said anything about not really being into it but I'm sure its going to be one of those songs that will take a certain moment to hook me. But yeah, just doesn't do much for me.

The only thing (and, I guess, this is a big "thing") I don't love about this song is Paul's voice. He sounds a little strained. I'm not a musician, but I'm guessing it's at the top of his range.

I think its a great song. And it is funny how it has worked it was in to my thinking. Like after a terrible week, and you just want to go home and take it easy and find out you and your wife are supposed to go out to dinner with her new clients etc.. "Dam*...What a Day For a Night!"

Always like this song. It's one I find myself singing in the shower, although I'm not sure what that means.

"What a Day for a Night" is a GREAT friggin' song! Immediately one of my favorites off of CFMT, which is, overall, a very strong, very underrated album. Love the lead guitar line, the lyrics are cool...etc.
I actually can't really imagine Raitt doing this one, apparently she couldn't either.
