I'll contribute the obvious:
Young Fresh Fellows
I only saw the Mats once, about a month before their last show, but I have no idea who opened for them in Athens at the GA Theatre - I got there late.

one of the guys from Fishbone now plays background jazz piano at a resturant in LA I was at recently... sad.
I saw Grant Lee Buffalo (Phillips) open for Paul in Philly in '93. Sitting next to me at the bar was the Butthole suefers guy and the guitar player from STP who were in town touring at the time...... came to pay their respect.

The posies really stunk the place up on the All Shook Down tour.
UC Davis - open night of tour - Marine Corp Hymn was the first song for the Replacements...it was a riot!!
Saw Young Fresh Fellows at the Whole Earth Festival sometimes back in the 80's at Davis though.
College Radio was awesome back then.

Mats opened with the Marine Hymn in Atlanta either on DTAS or PTMM tour. This was the week that a marine had been busted for passing top secret info to a Russian spy who seduced him in USSR. They encored with "Battleship Chains" by the Georgia Satellites. Bookending a show with songs with military themes. Pretty cool.

Richard Lloyd (of Television) at the Beacon, NYC, 1986 ... as noted the last time we did this thread ... wish I knew the exact date.

I saw Richard Lloyd open for them in 1987 at the Riviera in Chicago. His guitar playing was incredible.
