go21bucks, It sounds like you only saved the attachment from the STG site. This is only step one in the process. Once you save the attachment, you have to click on it, and this activates the bit torrent download. If you haven't downloaded the bit torrent software, you won't get anywhere. Here's a link where you can find this. home.elp.rr.com/tur/download.htmlOnce you've downloaded this program, click on "replacements_sessions[1].shn" A menu should pop up directing you the rest of the way. Seeing that this is 4-discs worth of material, this could take anywhere from 8 hrs. to 3 days to download (depending on if you have hi-speed or not). I received the Sessions discs in a trade a little while ago, so if this doesn't work out for you, we could work out a trade I'm sure.

I posted about the objection that the noodlings guitar solo tracks are not the Mats playing. Here is a response: I read somewhere that(PTMM producer) Jim Dickinson's son played those guitar noodlings .He played some guitar on the album. They were recorded during the Ptmm sessions,so they were included in the collection. That's one theory, but when you listen to those noodlings it's pretty clear that whomever is playing can't play guitar at all. It's also pretty clear that they weren't recorded in a studio. It really does sound like a 15-watt Peavey amp. I really think this is a case of some overzealous fan throwing some junk of his own on an existing boot. It's happened before. I just got a Ryan Adams boot that has some piece of crap fan song masquerading as an Adams demo. I've seen the same thing on a few Wilco boots as well.

I just mentioned this in another thread, but I am thoroughly enjoying this handy 4 pack. It's so interesting to hear songs that I know every note and sigh of...but with different lyrics, different endings, etc. Makes them less set in stone for me. No wonder PW can't remember the lyrics half the time - there are so many different versions. I've never been a fan of boots or outtakes, but having a boatload of them in one place is like some kind of archeological dig in sound.

This sounds great. Too bad I have no idea what a bit torrant or shn software is or what the f*ck I can do to download it. I went to that link for the free software but it made no sense to me. This kind of shit is what frustrates me about computers. It seems EVERYONE knows exactly what all this means and it is easy as hell for them to download this. I have no idea what ANY of it means and I can't do shit to download it. I don't get it. I sometimes feel like I'm so behind with computer knowledge I'll never catch up. I feel like technology is always flipping me off as it passes me by, "f*ck you ignorant simpleton bastard. You can't have the Replacements CDs -na,na,na,na,na,na "

I felt the same way not too long ago, but figuring out the whole bit torrent thing really isn't that difficult. Just read the FAQ at the link provided and you'll get it. There's not much to it really.

Do what I do and just trade cd's in the mail. If you send me 4 blank discs and a self addressed envelope with return postage I will burn the cd's and put them in the mail. Send me a PM and I'll get you my address.

I got a few messages from helpful posters and I really, really appreciate it. There are some really cool people on here.
