hopefully this is the beigning of the re-issue onslaught, i read on velvet rope, via some rhino rep, that they are preparing a full press of re-issues all remastered with bonus songs, great expanded packaging etc, (well worth the wait they said) let's hope....i would imagine if they start with greatest hits in may, maybe end of the year for the re-issues, x-mas times might work for the rest, and that box set as well....
fingers crossed, adam

I'm curious about the track listing in general, and also the packaging, extras. It could be a worthwhile purchase even for those who have everything (and everything else)...

Idol curiousity:
So this is a full-career compilation of the Replacements' output, right? Does Rhino worry about what tracks were on past Best ofs when they put these together? Might they weight this Best-of toward Twin Tone material because of the existence of AFN/NFA? Would they be free to draw on extra tracks from both indie and major label eras? Any chance of a DVD associated with this one, or is that saved for the box set? And do they worry about what's being saved for the box set?

Rhino now owns the complete replacements catalogue, at one point there was discussion of joint ryko disc/rhino releases, but it is my limited undersanding that now ryhino is taking care of the whole thing, and from tommy's interview on the rhino cast that seems to be the case, they are doing the box set...also all of the records twin tone/warner will be remastered...which is a good thing, because those other re-issues were, in accuality, not remastered even though they were labeled as such...out of curiousity i bought let it be, and there wasnt a damned bity of difference. the blurbs i have read out there mention that rhino is puttin alot of energy behind this and really paying allot of attention to the packaging, extra/bonus tracks etc..paul and tommy have been editing what should and what should not go on as extra track from their, mutual, collections....hopefully peter jesperson has been contacted, because he has talked at lenghth of all the material he has, that he saved from the vaults...looking forward to may....

If this ends up as a 'best of the Warners era' I will be bored. If it covers the whole shebang - and manages to squeeze in If Only You Were Lonely' to boot - I will be a very giddy suicaine kid. Liner notes! and lots of em!!

Liner notes! and lots of em!! I just almost bought a Jason and the Scorchers live CD from 1997 or so. The booklet was so packed with liner notes from the band I'm surprised they had time to play. I mean, Warner Hodges, no insult intended, but I really wouldn't expect 850 words out of the guy. What is the optimal ratio of previously released to unreleased material on a one-disc best of such as this Rhino thing in May or June? I'd say ... 75-25. Course, 0-100 would be optimal for everyone who has all the records, but they gotta actually put out the 'hits'

My wishlist would include a 4 cd box set of the whole catalog with b-sides like If Only..., 20th Century Boy, Temptation Eyes, etc.
A DVD documentary with interviews and live footage.
A full, all out book by Peter Jesperson on his whole experience with the Mats.

From Jim Walsh's blog:
word is they recorded two songs for not the reissues, but for a best-of comp that spans the entire 13-year itch that comes out on rhino in may. title: "Don't You Know Who I think I Was?"
if "go" isn't on it, I Will Weep.
