I actually won a westerberg item on e-bay without sniping it at the last minute. Its a copy of S/G in the cardboard box package with the inserted booklet! What's stupid is I already have one.
Anyone else ever bid on westerberg stuff over there and win something that they REALLY REALLY wanted?

A few things...
My favorite has to be a B&W, Hootenanny, promo poster with the tag line "Gallons of Style".
It looks sharp framed.
& I always snipe. Bidders beware!

Several posters, some rarities bootlegs, that magnet set, a Stereo/Mono t-shirt, more.
And I'm convinced guys snipe for the same reason they drive those giant 4-wheel drives.

Damn it! That reminds me that I was watching one of the Suicaines too...
I won a neato "Eventually" poster, a "Stereo/Mono" backlight poster, the 'Mats first single, and some Grandpaboy stuff.
God bless ebay. Congrats on the win, Reg.

Just this past weekend I was able to score a Besterberg promo poster. It's only the 4th or 5th item I've bought on eBay.
There was already one bid (for like $1 or something) on it when I noticed it Friday, and I waited 'til a few hours before the auction ended on Sunday to place my bid. I bid up to $5.00, but it ended up costing just $2.25! (plus shipping)
The beauty of it is, though, that I recently did a little redecorating at the case de Meri and as I removed a crappy old wall lamp from the end of the bookcase, I was thinking, "I really need to get something about 6" x 24" to hang there....and the next day I saw the promo poster of just those dimensions! It'll look fine there.
I'm hoping the poster arrives today. It arrived, and in perfect condition! Next stop: the frame store....

i've acquired a bunch of stuff via ebay:
let it be on vinyl (blue) grandpaboy vinyl 7" looking out forever/final hurrah jukebox 45 that bash & pop/his name is alive split 45 (blue) another bash & pop 45 with "situation" westerberg's 14 songs "book" etc.
lots of husker du, dillinger 4, strike, etc. vinyl, too. i keep "watching" those suicaine cardboard box thingies, but never get around to bidding. the only trouble i have had was with my winning bid on the "stink" colored vinyl (i think it was grey). the seller told me his dog had chewed it up, and could not sell it to me as it was. i knew it was bullshit, and someone contacted him with a secret higher bid, so i replied to the seller saying i would gladly pay my winning bid + shipping just to have the pieces of it. he never replied. fvcking transparent asshole.

I once won the 25-disc Rhino Have A Nice Day 70's series for something ridiculous like $40. I'm sure my guy was contacted, too, because he told me when he was moving, some of them were left in the sun and warped. I thought sh*t, for $40 I could afford to replace a few, so I told him to go ahead and ship them anyway. I got no response to that, but I got a full refund in my Paypal account the next day. Edit: This is one of only a very few bad transactions. Overall my eBay experiences have been positive: I have "scored" a bunch of stuff and have never been ripped off, monetarily. I continue to bid, buy and sell on eBay all the time.

I did win an item or two a fews years back but nowdays, not being very competitive that way (I especially hate the idea of competing with fellow MWT'ers), I'd rather trade, weed, or "let it be". If the record company folks would just put everything out on vinyl again I'd be happy forever!

The coolest Ebay items I've won for next to nothing were: ASD's "Have You Seen Lucky?" promo Invisible Dog Leash PTMM's promo Hand Buzzer And Scooter...last time I checked, www.twintone.com still had some colored vinyl left for $15 a record. I got Sorry Ma, Let It Be both in color.

The Nils! One of the most underrated rock n' roll bands of all-time...basically our (Canada's) answer to the 'mats.

I got my copy of the Grandpaboy EP on eBay for a couple bucks, and I bought a small "Pleased to Meet Me" button I used as a card guard in poker tournaments for a while.

I've gotten tons of Mats stuff on ebay over the years. I got an "All Shook Down" promo poster, a "Pleased To Meet Me" tour shirt, and "All For Nothing..." twice for next to nothing. The reason I got the album twice is because some jackass stole my original copy from a party I was dj'ing at. I wasn't too pissed because I recognized and eventually appreciated the irony of it.

just recently I won a bid (lone bidder ) on a Live Westerberg DVD at Irving Plaza, a show I was at. Needless to say, I was excited to own it. Its a pretty lame bootleg. Only half the songs the seller claimed to be on it were on it. And it froxe several times.

I've scored my share of 'mats and PW goodies - probably my favorite is a compilation of every 'mats related television appearance - all the videos, the short 120 Minutes interview, SNL appearances, all of Paul's, Chris', and Tommy's videos, Paul's Letterman and Gary Shandlng show appearances, etc. It was obviously a fourth or fifth generation burn, but that actually heightens the pleasure of watching this gem.
