If we're getting into dream cover territory, I've always wanted to hear Paul do "Midnight Rambler", where he could play harp on it too. I'd love to see Michael B driving that song with his drumming and kevin and Jim getting into the groove on that one.

I wouldn't mind a studio version of 'All Over Again' or 'Live Forever.' And replace 'So Lonesome I Could Cry' with 'Lost Highway', if he could finish it.
About a year before Stereo was released, I was listening to 'These Days' on Chelsea Girl and thought, 'what a great song for Paul to cover.'
Maybe if we concentrate really hard we can telepathically plan that all covers album he was supposed to release years ago.

Glad to be of assistance, Shell! I love that song and I think Paul and HOF would just kick ass on it, especially if they did it similar to like the Stones' live version of it. I IM'ed Michael B during the tour and asked if he could get Paul to play some Stones cover songs and he laughingly wrote back something like, "Man, no more Stones! All I hear on the bus is 'Exile'! " ;D

I think it was A regular who pointed out that the line was probably about Jackson Browne and that whole Darryl Hannah fiasco from years back. I haven't heard a better suggestion yet. The "choker" and "Folk Star" of the song is most probably: Richard Thompsonfrom the first line of this Richard Thompson bio: "British folk-rock guitar phenom Richard Thompson is one of those critic's faves who has never been a major commercial force despite a lengthy career. But who cares about chart performances?" Match this bio up with some of the other lines in Folk Star & I think RT is the one. Thompson, the "exceptionally talented and inventive guitarist" was at the very least, partly responsible for moving the traditional folk group Fairport Convention to "the cusp of inventing FolkRock". The "choking" is a metaphor for Thompson's wicked guitar on Sandy Dennys' vocal stylings. At least that's what I'm thinking! Gave it a spin this morning and thought about this, and still wonder how the reference to being "on the red carpet" and not wearing leather has to do with Richard Thompson. I heard that and thought of someone from LA that may date an actress and is a vocal vegetarian. I'm not sure of J Browne's eating habits but if he is vegetarian it would explain my first intinct of pointing a finger that way. ***Just looked and there are numerous sites and links that speak of Jackson B performing and speaking on behalf of animal rights groups. I'm sticking with JB.
