Hello. Have recently been fascinated by the journey DTAS took, as documented by the album itself as well as Dead Man's Pop... Wanted to pick the brains of people who have been around a lot longer than me. It's my understanding that very rough mixes of DTAS were done by Wallace shortly after they had finished tracking. The mixes on disc 1 of DMP are a 2019 approximation that, while very good, leaves me wondering what the original mixdowns sounded like as well as how far they went/were presented in between the record going from Wallace to Alge. As far as I'm aware these have never circulated in any wide capacity, though in doing some searching through this forum I've seen someone say Paul indicated at one point they were "out there" which, setting aside the veracity of that statement, makes me wonder to what extent they were distributed among industry/label people and if a set has privately circulated. Is this something anyone knows anything more concrete about, has, or has heard? It would be so interesting to compare the originals roughs to DMP and the released album. I would just add that I think Paul might be one of the most unreliable sources of information about this kind of thing. I don't think he was ever very interested in "bootlegs" and even less interested in looking "back", probably didn't pay much attention to anything anybody else ever told him about it, and probably misremembers whatever anybody did tell him.

Not at all a guilty pleasure, but every time I hear Aerosmith’s No More No More, I can’t help but to think it would be the perfect Mats cover song. “Lived my life a screamer, bound to a wife in marriage.” My Aerosmith guilty pleasure though is Jaded, and I think Paul and Tommy could tear that one up. They could have done any song off "Toys in the Attic" or "Rocks" and I would have been pleased...

Not a guilty pleasure, but I would have liked to hear them do Prince's "If I Was Your Girlfriend"...Paul Revere and the Raiders "Kicks"...

George Washington never wanted to be the Father of His Country. Joan of Arc never wanted to be a Saint. Fonzie never wanted to be the focal point of "Happy Days"...

The song "I Got You Babe" is about how the dynamics of an interpersonal relationship can overcome the inherent challenges of cohabitation by economically deprived partners in a free market capitalist system.

I think some of you are thinking that in order for a song, or a joke, or a comment, or a painting, or an attitude to have a political dimension to it, it has to be specific, like: "Here's what I think the International Monetary Fund's position on pork belly futures should be"...It's usually a lot more subtle than that. And the artist's "intent" is relatively beside the point when we're talking about how people react...

I don't want to say this, because I don't like it, but everything we do, say and are is political. It can't be avoided. Everything has a social and/or political implication. Saying you're apolitical is political. Not voting is political. Not paying attention is political. Not caring is political. "The Guns of Brixton" is a political song, and so is "Do Wah Diddy Diddy". Link Wray and Dave Brubek are political, and they don't even have lyrics. It's like air pollution; it's just there whether you want it to be or not...

Oh well, the art and science of sequencing vinyl LPs is probably pretty esoteric at this point anyway. End of post. It was a real art. Perhaps it will make a comeback with the renewed interest in vinyl. I always liked when albums would have two songs placed with no or a deliberate segue between two tracks, such that radio (at least, old AOR FM radio) would eventually just always play the two together, like ZZ Top's "Waitin' for the Bus"/"Jesus Just Left Chicago", or Zeppelin's "Heartbreaker"/"Living Loving Man"...

Paul must have been crushed by the inability to tour this past year. Bet he had a big Euro jaunt lined-up. In all seriousness, post-pandemic times would be perfect for a Buddy Holly-style Winter Dance Party Tour. Kenosha, Mankato, Eu Claire, Montevideo, Davenport, Green Bay, &c. Test-out some new jams. Short and sweet. Come on, Paulie. I'd like to see an interview with Paul: "How has it been dealing with your inability to play live during the pandemic?" "What pandemic?"

Band who originated in Oklahoma then played in the early 80's Minneapolis scene rediscovers old recordings made at Blackberry Way studios, some of which featured Bob Mould and Tommy Stinson, before either one of them were in their later bands. Tommy required a ride to and from his mom's house, and a stop at Dairy Queen on the way home. www.yahoo.com/news/music-detective-story-unearthed-recordings-151900585.html

New songs, old outtakes, half-finished demos, any of them or all of the above . . . I don't care. Free, cheap, moderately priced, or expensive . . . again, anything is fine. He's got a loyal band of die-hards. He has a great gift as well. Someone from his management or someone he knows will come across this at some point. Let us have it - whatever it may be. Here's a good fit for Paul's final album. Seymour Stein is reviving the Blue Horizon label with Matthew Johnson from Fat Possum. www.yahoo.com/entertainment/vintage-fleetwood-mac-resurfaces-revival-190857377.html

Rhino seems like it's run by stoners...They get high and have a great idea: "We should see if The Replacements would let us do a big fancy reissue of 'Pleased To Meet Me'!" "Yeah, let's do that!" Six weeks later: "Man, did you ever do anything with that Replacements reissue?" "Oh, shit, I forgot about that!"
