I agree with all the rips on Folker - bad drums, bad vocals, sloppy first takes. I've been as critical as anyone of that stuff over the years. I do, however, think that a couple of those songs are great, and even the ones that aren't are better than most of SG. I don't love Foker, it's far from my go-to PW record, but it's ahead of SG by a mile. I'll take sloppy versions of mostly good songs over polished versions of mostly bad songs any day. I just can't stomach some of that SG stuff.

Just got my copy in the mail today. I won the record labels contest and got it for free along with an Iggy Pop records, and a Bob Dylan record. I wouldnt say the cover is extremely pixelated or distorted. But overall the record itself sounds great.
Also, there are a ton of great songs on Folker in my opinion and while Paul's singing isn't his strongest on that record it captures what that time in his life must have felt like.

Got my SG vinyl finally. The cover art is a half-assed, lazy, thrown-together blown up scan of the CD. It's blurry and low-res. Really disappointing that they couldn't take the extra couple hours and research to pull together something presentable. LP jackets - especially gatefolds - aren't cheap to manufacture. It's a shame they put all that money and effort into a nice package, but didn't bother to either find or recreate the original art or come up with something new (like they did for 14 Songs).
The record sounds decent. Not a huge improvement over the CD, if any, but nice to have in the collection. Of the 3 newly issued LPs I think 14 Songs looks the best and Eventually sounds the best.

I'm glad to have the chance to grab these on vinyl even if the print quality is not as great as hoped for.
I suspect the run is small and they will go OOP for good sooner rather than later. I'd not sit and wait if you are thinking of buying.

For what it's worth, and it's probably not worth a thick dime, so here's my 8 cents. and i'll be looking for change, given that it's not worth that much. i hated suicane for way too long until i actually gave it a sincere listen, and i do believe that it contends with mono/stereo as Paul's second best release. and the first, of course, would be 49:00 in my book. as depressing as suicane sounded on the first and eleventeenth listen, i must say i've grown to love the sweet disc. whether it's a wonderful lie or the best thing that never happened. one of my all-time-favorite Westerberg solo songs, and i'm not saying this to merely re-establish my contrarian street cred, is "Fugitive Kind." get through the piano intro and listen to the nasty and mean guitar. good god, it kills me every time it cuts loose. keep the change ...

Definitely agree 49:00 and Stereo/Mono are his best. Hope to see a pressing of both of those. Ive actually talked to the label that is repressing these and he very much showed interest in doing the rest of Paul's catalog. We can only hope.

Agreed about "Best Thing That Never Happened". Katie O had just died and I thought Paul had written it for her, obviously couldn't have been the case. One of the best - and sweetest - cops of "Like A Rolling Stone" ever. Gorgeous song. And "Fugitive Kind" is has that great, elegant, floor-tom pounding rhythm and such catchy and changes and hooks. And absolutely concur about the guitar - all the greats are in there: Richards, Thunders, Quine, Mick Jones, etc. Very tough performance.

I like SG but have always felt that the track order hurt it. What if it started, as it does, with Wonderful Lie, but then picked up with Best Thing that Never Happened followed by Lookin' Out Forever? That would have changed my initial impression of the album quite a bit.
Folker is by far the toughest PW for me to like, although I do love a few of the tracks.

Listened to Suicane twice while on the road in Utah (vast stretched of no radio in Utah. btw). Absolutely PDubya's most complete work, and damn close to his best.
