By the way, your cat looks less than impressed. Great shot, though. Yeah,he's not a Rickenbacker cat,he mostly likes Gibsons . Smart cat!

I think this is the one Paul smashed, Slim put it back together and used it on his solo tours. It survived the van fire, although Slim had to strip the burnt finish off the body.

Thanks for the post! Paul had another Rickenbacker guitar, this Jetglo 330 6-string. I think this is the one Paul smashed, Slim put it back together and used it on his solo tours. It survived the van fire, although Slim had to strip the burnt finish off the body. That could be,a comment attached to a photo of the black Rickenbacker 330 quoted Paul at that show asking the audience "Do you like my guitar? A kid loaned it to me and I never gave it back".

I wonder if there are any pics of Paul's collection? It is hard to find information about Paul's Guitars. He doesn't like to talk about that stuff. I read interviews where he is asked him about his guitars and he said something like "I have a big red one".

If that's true, then he stole that joke from Chris. In the infamous Musician Magazine interview, there was the usual gear sidebar, and there was a lot of detailed info about everyone's gear until it came to Chris, who just responded to the question about what drums he plays by saying, "Black ones."

One of the guitar magazines had a centerfold of Paul's '62 Melody Maker (same year as mine!). Anybody remember that? He had 'decorated' it somewhat, including some Pesos glued to the front. I still have that somewhere, I wish I could remember his description of it....

I used to have it and now I can't find it. In the quotes, Paul talks about hating guitar stores and having a roadie or tech buy this for him at a pawn shop or guitar store somewhere in Florida. I just spent 15 minutes googling and I can't find it anywhere...

I've always wondered what kind of bass Tommy is playing on the cover of "Sorry Ma..." There's a good picture of it in the new Mats picture book, but he put a piece of tape over the name on the headstock. It has a short neck and resembles a Fender Mustang, but there's a few differences in the body shape and the pick guard and controls.

Sweet! You are a guitar god, Riot. I've asked many people over the years, and no one could figure it out. Thanks.
Now, if I could only find myself one - and a left-handed one to boot. Not holding my breath.

Any of you Mat's fans that want's to see or play Paul's Rickenbacker 12-string should stop by Jim Harm's My Music Store in Golden Valley MN. It's on the wall there and if you ask Jim nicely he will let you play it.
