I attended the DocuWest Festival screening of Color Me Obsessed in Golden, CO.
About two dozen folks were in attendance for the 9pm Friday screening. This new film festival doesn't get much local press, and the auditorium was not marked as a film fest venue from the outside.
The introduction was handled by (I'm assuming) a film fest volunteer who was content to read the sponsor credits and short film blurb without any further elaboration. Too bad, as it would have been nice to have a quick talk with the audience about the band. Clearly many in the audience were too young to have seen the band in their heyday.
Loved the film and the faith-based approach to telling their story via disciples and true believers. I saw the band three times back in the day and the tales certainly resonated with my experiences. Would this tribute really turn anyone who has never heard the Mats into a fan? I don't know, but for the converted it was a great treat.
