I'm getting irriatated about how long it's taking for the tickets to go on sale I know, huh? When I saw the "check back after April 6" on the IFF website, I ~ naturally ~ took it to mean "check back ON April 6" so I checked in 3 or 4 times yesterday. But even still now, almost at noon on April 7th, the message says the same thing.

I went to the Boston screening last night and had a wonderful time. I think Gorman did an amazing job crafting a narrative that told the story of the band through the experiences of their fans and friends. And when you see it, you realize including the music is completely unnecessary to the story that is being told. Hard to explain but when you see it, I think it will make sense. The movie includes lots of comments from Mr. Kevin Bowe (of Paul's Only Friends), plus Scott Hudson, Matt Tomich from the Skyway (via Malta), Jim Connelly, Elaine Pan and other non-famous fans. As well as lots of folks involved with the band, critics, other musicians and a few famous fans. Stay tuned for info on more showings and eventually DVD release, which will have lots of bonus footage. Although I didn't miss having the music in the movie, I will say that it was a blast to go from the screening to a party where Boston bands AM Stereo and The Dirty Truckers tore the place up with a bunch of Mats tunes, plus AM Stereo's song "Bob Stinson". 6Am rolled around pretty damn early after getting home at 1 last night but so worth it!
