I missed it and am dumb. What nod? OK thanks, now I get it: "This machine kills time." I thought "Woodie" meant Ron Wood, wasn't thinking Woody Guthrie. Ordered mine on Oct 30 too and it came today too and it's black too.

Received my copy yesterday- marbled vinyl.
Interesting, wonderfully enigmatic art work by Pau... I mean Mr. The Guthrie reference above seems rather appropriate as Paul has gone from "Folk Star" to a true folk singer. The first time I played both sides, my wife said, "I'm hearing strong Dylan influences there" and I said, "Yeah, and I hear some Arlo Guthrie-like melody in there, and a nod to his dad, Woody ." Great lyrics too. A whole album of Grandpaboy's folky alter-ego would be great to have.

I took a stab at transcribing the lyrics from the two songs on the 45. Check the threads in the Lyrics section. I'm missing a key line at the end of This Machine. Next project: transcribing Grandpaboy's Last Stand. ;-)

Got mine today. Trivia - the vinyl has handwritten BW 12-31-59 A/B on opposite sides. PW's birthdate.

I definitely feel a strong Dylan vibe on this 7", can hear the woody reference as well. I could see where someone would think we've been had, but in honesty, I don't really think paul can be categorized, as his material tends to be all over the place. This new persona, Mr. F is great, possibly it stands for Mr. Folkstar.... Elrod should be proud!

To those that didn't get past the first few minutes of the Grandpaboy mp3, give it another chance... it pays off! There are some gems hidden in the chaos.
Also, if you listen closely "Elrod" is mentioned a few times throughout the "epic."

It was said to be a "multi-colored vinyl" - yet mine is solid black (with a yellow label in the center). Did I get screwed out of something cool & funky, or is this what everyone else got? no offense but who cares if it's colored vinyl or not? this is new westerberg music released on vinyl in 2010, plus the insane 'gpb's last stand' download. the gpb 35 minute thing requires several listenings to decipher; 'love you in reverse' (7:43 version) is a great pw song, and the banter among the various characters throughout is flat out hilarious and maybe even brilliant. i'm thinking he's about to go on a roll. hope so anyway.

We're all glad to have something new to listen to and talk about, but it's not unreasonable to expect to receive the product you were told you were paying for. I don't think anyones gonna boycott Paul over it, but I can understand why those who got the black vinyl would be a little irked.

Little errors here and there but really doesn't hurt the music?

If I had gotten the black vinyl instead of the multicolored, I would be thinking that instead of receiving the first pressing of a limited edition, I was receiving the second. As a collector, that makes a big difference.

Seems like they gave a fairly quick response on the pressing number, they may be able to shed some light on this situation. I received black and ordered it on day one.

If you're into the collectability of items such as this, those with black vinyl shouldn't be too upset. You now have the more rare version of the single...just like the black vinyl version of Presley's last album are worth more than the "limited edition" blue vinyl that was pressed by the millions.

Just got an email from "Mr. F". You better believe I opened that quickly. A link back to Nimbit and a download for "Grandpaboy's Last Stand (epilogue). " Clocking in at 2 mins, 2 sec, it is essentially "La Bamba" on acoustic guitar with "alternate" lyrics. Keep 'em comin'!!!

I dig the new 45, and the perfect format for the subject matter. Yes, a full albmum of this would be great (on vinyl is fine by me).
btw, mine is marbled
