Due to the overwhelming demand for Mr. F, a second pressing of 500 singles is in the works. They should be available in about 2 weeks.
Mr. F says you'll be sorry if you miss out...

I'm all in. No arm twisting needed even though I gave away my turntable about 7 years ago.

I highly recommend getting this. I've only listened to the single 4 or 5 times, but it's worth it for "grandpaboy's last stand" alone. I don't know what it is about these basement recordings of his, with all the weird things going on, but they're quite enjoyable. This one has some good songs on it (not as good as 49:00, but still). It's scary listening to stuff like this, knowing paul must have countless tapes full of songs in partial states. It's like the guy is always working.
The new grandpaboy thing is also interesting as it's kind of chronicling the "life" of grandpaboy, and elrod puce is highly involved it seems... Not sure if that's just another pseudonym for paul, or grandpaboy, or Mr. F, but it seems to be something there. It's kind of strange listening to it, as you almost think the poor guy might be having an identity crisis or something with the various names being used. Especially when he's obviously talking about himself, but I dunno for sure. It's great music either way, you should give it a chance.

All the pseudonyms are from previous Grandpaboy releases. Senator Jim Dracula, Henry Twiddle, Zeke Pine, etc. were all credited as musicians on other releases.
And people shouldn't expect any songs from Grandpaboy's Last Stand. It's not a song collage like 49:00. It's really just an extended skit. Think of it more as a faked version of the Tom Waits bits on 3'oclockkreep. People hoping for actual music (like I was) will be frustrated. The longest stretch of music is when he plays I've Been Working on the Railroad with altered lyrics...twice in a row. And the "New Order-ish" track that had my interest piqued turns out to be just a joke about Grandpaboy using Beyonce's producer. Unfortunately, it's meant to be bad.

This past October has been the roughest of my life, and now I find I miss this? Please hurry with the second pressing - go like the 'mats, go man go!

I dunno...on the download card, someone nicely translated the ASL where it says, "If you can't take a joke...." and then the ASL hand signs for:
FUCK YA LOVE PW
But even if it is just him horsing around on unfinished song ideas, I still find the snippets compelling. I'm still finding new things on it after only hearing it three times. I think it needs repeated listenings to get the entire humor ("we were cookin'!" and "sounds like the fuckin' Bee Gees!" and "how many replacements does it take to screw in a lightbulb?" ) and to really take in the other songs, minus the "studio" chatter.
And if he meant all of this seriously, ie, not intentionally bad, it's still far more unique as this artistic concept. IMO, it's much better than whatever else is being vomited from mainstream radio, let's put it that way!

I agree completely FreeRider. Rarely do I listen to the radio anymore because it has gotten so bad. This is 35 minutes of entertainment and I love it. The songs are good too, even if they were not supposed to be! I've played it several times and like you said, each time you pick up something you missed before. Anything that puts me in a good mood is allright by me and this download delivered.

I specifically meant the dance version of Love You in Reverse was intentionally bad. But yeah, I don’t think any of the music is meant to be taken seriously. If there's one thing we know it's that he didn't do this in a rush. It would take a lot of time andplanning to multitrack all the dialogue. So I doubt he got all that right and then didn't get the drums tracked in time on Mystery Train (for instance) because he was rushing through it. I'd love to hear Paul do a serious cover of Mystery Train, but this one is obviously meant to be part of the chaos of a Grandpaboy session, so it's intentionally bad. I just these think the same is true for everything on the track. At least I hope it's a joke.

I find the dance version of Love You in Reverse to be terribly hilarious. I am more amused every time I listen to it. "Dance! Your fans want to dance." It feels in a way like he is teasing us for how seriously we take him, and I like it.

I'm with you---the more I listen to it, the funnier it gets...and this entire concept of a Grandpaboy "recording session" is maybe a stroke of creative genuis? The producer Ron Regal---who has a 4 o'clock flight The fight in the band: "Shut the fuck up!" "You wanna taste my blade?" " Pine! Pine! Hold him!" Comments about Elrod wearing women's clothes... oh yeah, this isn't to be taken seriously, it's fun...and FUNNY. I agree completely FreeRider.... This is 35 minutes of entertainment and I love it. True, I've listened to it in the car on the way to and from work and I keep finding new things that strike me as being funny! What better way to start and end your day?

I always felt that their sense of humor was one of the things that set the 'Mats apart from other bands so it's good to see this aspect of Paul's personality reappear.

Totally agree that Paul's sense of humor has always been one of his strong suits. Unfortunately for me, I don't think these tracks are funny at all. It's more of an irritating listening experience that I won't be repeating. I found the (authentic) studio banter between Paul, Tommy and Tom Waits on Threeoclockkreepto be about 100 times funnier than this. It might be just more evidence that you can't recreate a full band experience with a one man band.

I tried listening to GPB's Last Stand again- ingnoring the lo-fi of my laptop's speakers and my dinged ears as much as possible- and I have to say, I agree with ClamsCasino's assesment here: "I don't think these tracks are funny at all." Agreed. Sorry, Paul- it just isn't funny. "It's more of an irritating listening experience that I won't be repeating." Yup. I still like the 45, but the download is just throw away material. I don't think I've ever dissed any P.W. material this much before. It don't feel good. Sorry. I'll be watching for that next record, book, movie or, hell, even a P.W. wristwatch that chimes Paul's voice every hour: "And one!", "And two!", "And three!" etc. Anything but another episode of Grandpaboy's Last Stand.

I must say I'm more impressed with the technical aspects of putting together a one man sketch like "Grandpaboy's Last Stand" than the actual results. Paul is no Bill Hicks or Richard Pryor that's for sure, heck, he's not even Jay Leno and that's saying something. So there's nods to pseudonyms from the past, song snippets, and some mild jabs at the music biz, but overall this thing just isn't all that engaging for me. Some of the music is decent enough, and there's a few smiles to be had, but overall it feels like epic length filler. It sounds like he had fun doing it, more fun than I had listening. It's too bad, something like this could work, it just requires a bit more forethought.
Obviously this is just something tossed off and as it's just a bonus track it's nothing to get worked up over. Nevertheless one can only hope that the next bit of "filler' is a bit more substantial.
